 NORFOLK – Mrs. Mary Josephine Lawson, 61, of 2515 Console Ave., widow of 
William J. Lawson and daughter of Otto and Mrs. Mary Seward Prepneit, died in a 
Norfolk hospital Monday at 3:15 a.m.

A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was a member Episcopal Church of the 
Ascension, Colonial Avenue Garden Club, Camellia Shores Garden Club, Camellia 
Shores Civic League, and past worthy matron of Westminster Chapter 99, Order of 
Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George H. Harris III of Franklin; a son, 
William J. Lawson Jr. of Lynnhaven, Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, Mrs. J.H. 
Hollomon of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Mrs. Henry F. Barr of Norfolk; and five 
grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon—Brown Funeral Home Wednesday at 
11 a.m. by the Rev. Frank L. Rose Jr., of Episcopal Church of the Ascension. 
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
