Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Mercedes Lawton were conducted March 16 at First 
Baptist Church, West Munden, by the Rev. David P. Butt.

She died March 13 in a local hospital at the age of 58.  She was a native of 
South Norfolk and lived at 2522 Carey street.  The daughter of the late Joseph 
B. Eaton Sr., Mrs. Lawton is survived by her husband Alvah Lawton;  mother, Mrs 
Carrie Eaton;  two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Lindsey of South Norfolk and Mrs Ruth 
Waff of Norfolk;  three brothers, J. B. Eaton,Jr. Of Norfolk;  Eugene Eaton and 
Vernon Eaton of South Norfolk;  one niece, four nephews, one uncle and one aunt.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with the Corprew Funeral Home of Campostella in 
charge.
