The boy was sitting in a wagon of the Southern Renovator Company holding the horse, when the animal became frightened and ran at break-neck speed down Lovitt avenue. At Park avenue, the horse turned the corner, upsetting the wagon and throwing out the boy, whose head struck against a post. His skull was fractured and death was almost instantaneous. The horse continued on his mad run until brought to a standstill by falling and breaking his leg. He was afterwards shot to put him out of his suffering. Dr. Newton, City Coroner, examined the body and gave a certificate of death from natural causes. The funeral of JAMES H. LAYLOR, only son of Robert and Margaret Laylor, aged 14 years, will take place from the residence of parents, 66 Queen street, THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON at 4 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances invited to attend. The deceased was insured in the industrial plan of the Virginia Life Insurance Company.
