ALEXANDRIA — The Rev. Leon Neff Laylor, 74, a retired Episcopal clergyman, died 
Thursday in a hospital. A native of Norfolk, he was ordained a deacon in Christ 
and St. Luke's Church and at one time was assistant pastor of the Church of the 
Ascension there.
He was a former rector of Grace Church and St. Paul's Church in Alexandria and 
was president of the standing committee of the Diocese of Virginia from 1961 to 
1962 and 1965 to 1966.
He was a graduate of Carroll College and Virginia Theological Seminary.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. John H. Iredell; and a grand-nephew, Thomas 
Iredell, both of Rockville, Md.
A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Church, 220 S. Pitt St. 
Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, with Everly- 
Wheatley Funeral Home in charge.
Memorial donations may be made to the memorial funds of St. Paul's Church or the 
Church of the Ascension.
