Virginian-Pilot June 14, 1969
VIRGINIA BEACH - Mrs. Sallie Jones Layman, 71, of 5337 Northampton Blvd., the 
wife of William H. Layman and a daughter of M. N. and Mrs. Sallie Jones, died in 
a hospital Friday at 1:30 a.m.
A native of Princess Anne County, she was a member of Temple Baptist Church and 
a past worthy matron of Virginia Beach Chapter 75 of Order of Eastern Star.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Allen J. Gettel of Virginia 
Beach; three grandchildren, Mrs. Charles Coldburn Jr., Miss Sarah J. Get- te1, 
and Samuel J. Gettel of Virginia Beach; two half sisters; and two great-
grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside, Sunday 
at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
