Mrs. Lulu Mae Layne, after an illness of several months, died at a local hospital 
Thursday morning, May 10. Her funeral was held at Grace Episcopal Church Sunday 
afternoon at one o’clock and was largely attended. Rev. B. W. Harris officiated. 
Interment took place in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Layne was a native of Goldsboro, 
NC, and has made her home in Norfolk since her marriage to Mr. Leroy Layne, a 
native of Lynchburg. She is survived by her husband, three children, and a sister.
