Virginian-Pilot October 23, 1968
NORFOLK — Mrs. Mattie Blitz Leake, 87, the widow of Hunter W. Leake and a 
daughter of John D. and Mrs. Sarah Ackerly Blitz, died in a hospital Tuesday at 
5:10 a.m.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she lived at 426 Pembroke Avenue. She was a 
member of Park Place Methodist Church, Virginia Eastern Star Chapter 22, and 
Rebekah Lodge 13.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edgar O. Gimbert of Virginia Beach; a 
granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, and a nephew.
A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Thursday at 3 
p.m. by the Rev. George W. Harrison of Park Place Methodist Church. Burial will 
be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 
9.
