Leary, 77, of 1002 Park Avenue, South Norfolk, died in a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 1:50 a.m. He had been in poor health since January, but was in the hospital only a week. Previously, he had assisted his son, Russell E. Leary, in his drug store, the Cradock Pharmacy. He also had been a carpenter. He was the father of Wilbur T. Leary, a Norfolk County Delegate to the General Assembly, and was a member of the South Norfolk Baptist Church, South Norfolk Lodge 339, A. F. and A. M., Oakdale Lodge, Odd Fellows, and the Woodmen of the World. A native of Chowan County, NC, he had lived in this section 40 years. He was the son of William H. Leary and Mrs. Mary Cockeran Leary, and the husband of Mrs. Grace Halstead Leary. Surviving, other than his wife and two sons, are a daughter, Mrs. H. N. Felton, of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Cox, of Ocean View, and Mrs. Lula Sivills, of Norfolk; a half-sister, Mrs. Cora Bond, of Edenton, NC; a brother, Cliff Leary, of Elkin, SC, and one niece. the body was taken to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
