Virginian Pilot July 31, 1902

Mr. Eugene Howard Leeke, well known to the people of Berkley died yesterday 
morning at 6:30 o'clock, at his home, corner of Chestnut and Payne streets, 
after suffering many years of consumption.  During the time of his illness 
he went west to seek health several times, but the fountain of youth had 
fled and he returned home a few months ago, resigned to the inevitable. 
Before his health gave away to the extent of disabling him for duties, he 
was a trusted employee of the Tunis Lumber Company, with whom he remained 
for several years.  He was born in Talbot County, Md. and was 34 years of 
age.  He leaves a widow and one child, a mother, Mrs. S.F. Leeke, of 
Baltimore and a brother, Mr. A.W. Leeke, of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be conducted from Memorial M.E. Church this afternoon at 5 
o'clock, Rev W. Asbury Christian, the pastor, officiating and the interment 
will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
