Katherine West Leibfried died July 6, 1997. She was 73. 

Born Dec. 4, 1923, in Norfolk to Katherine (Oldfield) and Dandridge Payne West, 
M.D., she was a graduate of the Graham School, Norfolk, and attended RPI, 
Richmond. 

A member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of Virginia and 
Pennsylvania, she was also a member of the Junior League of Philadelphia, 
Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, Mill Creek Garden Club and the Merion Cricket 
Club. 

She enjoyed traveling, especially to New Zealand and Oregon. 

She was the wife of John E. Leibfried of Gladwyne and formerly was married to 
Clement B. Hoskins of Florida and Joseph Head of Philadelphia. She is also 
survived by her children, Charlotte Hoskins Herbert of Oregon, David L. Hoskins 
of New Zealand; grandchildren, Alex and Julia Herbert, Luke and Gwynn of New 
Zealand; stepchildren, Rick and Chris Leibfried; and five stepgrandchildren. 

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's 
Episcopal Church, 226 Righters Mill Road, Gladwyne. Interment will be private 
in Norfolk. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the American 
Cancer Society, 275 Commerce Drive, Suite 300, Fort Washington, Pa. 19034.
