The Virginian Pilot Thursday, February 15, 1979
CHESAPEAKE - Richard Henry Leigh, 48, of 602 Destrahan Ave., West Jefferson, 
La., a tugboat employe and native of Winfall, N.C., died Monday in West 
Jefferson.

He lived in Louisiana 34 years.  He was a son of Mrs. Ida Bagley Leigh of 
Winfall.

Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Wendy Barrie Strickland of Suffolk; a 
brother, James E. Leigh of Chesapeake; and three sisters, Mrs. Katherine L. 
McGoogan of Waycross, Ga., Mrs. Martha L. Laverty of Kingwood, Tex., and Mrs. 
Elizabeth L. Champion of Norfolk.

The body is being sent to Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, where a 
funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Meredith Garrett of Bayview 
Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park Norfolk.  The family 
will be at the home of James E. Leigh.
