Norfolk Virginian November 18, 1879

LEIGH - On Sunday morning, the 16th inst. at 20 minutes to 4 o'clock, JOHN 
ROSCOE, only son of Jas. Y. and Fannie J. Leigh, aged 13 years, 1 month and 16 
days.

                            Death of a Promising Boy
 
Master John R. Leigh, the bright and promising son of Captain James Y. Leigh, 
died at his home on Main Street Sunday morning after a painful illness. The 
bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of 
distress. The funeral took place at St. Paul's Church yesterday afternoon and 
was very largely attended.
