Funeral services from St. Paul's P.E. Church THURSDAY at 6 o'clock p.m. ************* The funeral of Mr. James Y. Leigh, one of Norfolk's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens, who passed away at his home on York Street at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday night, after an illness of several weeks, at the ripe age of 80 years, will take place this afternoon at 6 o'clock from St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The deceased was a native of Norfolk County and was born at "Willoughby," the home of his father, Mr. John P. Leigh, near Ocean View. During the memorable war between the states from 1861 to 1865 he enlisted in the Confederate army and served his country faithfully until the close of the hostilities. The war over he returned to Norfolk and established the real estate and auction firm of Leigh Bros. & Phelps, which for a long number of years had a wide reputation as one of the foremost business houses in this city. In late years on account of failing health he retired from the more active pursuits of business life. He was a man of pleasant and affable manners and had a host of friends who will long revere his memory. He was one of the oldest members and officials of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and always took an active interest in its welfare. He is survived by a widow and three children.
