 The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 27, 1940
Mrs. Sarah Fentress Leland, aged 79, widow of W.R. Leland, died at a local 
hospital yesterday morning at 5:10 o'clock after a short illness. She was 
the daughter of Ezekiel and Mrs. Anne Fentress, a native of Princess Anne 
County, and had resided in Norfolk practically all of her life. Surviving 
her are three sons, W.R. Leland, Jr., Horace L., and Otto R. Leland, all of 
Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. L.D. Walker, of Norfolk; and Mrs. Elsie 
Lambert, of Washington; one sister, Mrs. Martha Colenda, of Norfolk; 14 
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the 
funeral chapel of James V. Derry, Colley and Harrington avenues. The Rev. F. 
Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
