Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, January 29, 1997 
Mary Esther Leonard, 91, formerly of 3198 Pioneer Ave. in Liberty Park passed
away Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Clyde V. Leonard and a member of the Greater
Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the stewardess board,
Missionary Society and the altar guild, when it was in existence. Mrs. Leonard
was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Order of Calanthe.

She is survived by two nieces, Nancy Ford Williams and Louise Horton; five
great-nephews, Stanly Williams of Richmond, Clyde Williams, Troy Williams,
Alfonso Williams and Theodore Williams of Norfolk; a great-niece, Betty Williams
of Norfolk; four cousins, Ann Shinpook and Hilda Robertson of Detroit, Helen
Ford and Montrose Ford of Baltimore; and a host of great-great-nieces and
nephews and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in the Greater Metropolitan A.M.E.
Zion Church by the Rev. G. Bernard Crawford assisted by the Rev. Nathaniel
Harps. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral Home is in charge. The
family will assemble at 512 Rose Marie Ave., Virginia Beach, at 11 a.m. the day
of the service.
