The Virginian Pilot Wednesday December 20,1978
Norfolk - James Lewis of 823 W. 42nd St., the husband of Mrs. Lula Scott Lewis 
and a native of Norfolk, died Monday in his home.

He retired from Eddie’s Market. He was a member of First Baptist Church, 
Lamberts Point, and its senior male usher board, male chorus, and brotherhood.

Other survivors include three daughters, Ms. Mary E. Lewis, Mrs. Gloria D. 
Jones, and Ms. Barbara A. Lewis of Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Beverly 
Gale Grier of Norfolk; four sons, James Lewis, William H. Lewis, and Bobby L. 
Lewis of Virginia Beach, and Johnnie Lewis of Norfolk; a stepson, Thomas Harmon 
of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Mary L. Thomas of Boston; a brother, Nathaniel 
Snowden of Virginia Beach; 20 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Lamberts 
Point, by Dr. Marvin L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation 
at Pretlow’s Funeral Home will be from noon Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday.
