William L. Lewis, 64, retired civil service worker at the Norfolk Naval Base, 
was buried in Calvary Cemetery Sunday, Oct. 11.  Funeral services were conducted 
by the Rev. H. E. Braxton at First Baptist Church, Logan Park,of which the 
deceased was a member.

Mr. Lewis, of 1216 Pelham street, died Oct. 6 at his residence after a short 
illness.  A native of Gates, NC,  he had lived in Norfolk more than 40 years.

He is survived b his wife, Mrs. Eva L. Lewis;  five sisters, Mrs. Laura White of 
Brooklyn, NY;  Mrs. Sallie Lassiter, Mrs. Painai Cross, Mrs. Lucy Lewis and Mrs. 
Odell Boone, all of New York City;  eight brothers, Alex Lewis of Waterbury, CT, 
John Lewis and Charles Lewis, both of New York city, Roosevelt and Cathew Lews, 
both of Brooklyn, NY, Stanley Lewis of Detroit MI, Willie Lewis of south Norfolk 
and Robert Lewis of Hampton.

B. F. King Funeral Home had charge of burial arrangements.
