Norfolk Journal and Guide, Sep 22,1962
A funeral service was held Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church for Thomas Liles, 
83, of 1048 Holt street, who died Monday at a local hospital after a short 
illness.  A native of McFarland, NC, he was the husband of Mrs. Marlene Liles 
and a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Willie S. Liles, Grover 
Liles, Junius Liles and Edward Liles, all of Norfolk;  two daughters, Mrs. 
Bertha Lee and Mrs. Lillie M. Watts of Norfolk;  a brother, Edward Liles of 
McFarland, NC;  17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. J. W. Matthews delivered the eulogy.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge.
