She was 73. Lindley founded the company, which she started in her bedroom, in 1966. Military Newspapers put out several award-winning publications serving the military community. "She was a very smart businesswoman and a pioneer female leader in the business community," said Debbie Lybrand, a friend and former chief financial officer of Military Newspapers. The newspapers include Soundings, covering Navy, Marine and Coast Guard communities; The Jet Observer, covering Oceana Naval Air Station; The Flyer, for Langley Air Force Base; The Wheel, covering Fort Eustis and Fort Story; and The Booster, for Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. Military Newspapers of Virginia is now part of Pilot Media Cos. Lindley also was active in organizations including the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Armed Services YMCA, the Navy League of the United States, the Association of the U. S. Army and the Air Force Association. She is survived by her husband, William Lindley, and four daughters.
