Lindsay, aged 82, died yesterday afternoon at 4:20 o’clock at his residence, 230 West Twentieth Street. Mr. Lindsay was a native of Williamsburg and had lived in Norfolk for 45 years. He became active in labor organizations shortly after his arrival in the city, one of his first associations being the Knights of Labor, which later dissolved. He was a charter member and participated in the organization of Norfolk Local 331 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, and recently was guest of honor at a dinner celebration his association with the group for more than 35 years. Mr. Lindsay is survived by three daughters, Miss Lucretia S. Lindsay, Miss Anna E.W. Lindsay, and Miss Edna B. Lindsay; two granddaughters, Miss Pearle V. Blackenship and Mrs. Joseph M. Wilson, and a niece and three nephews, all of Norfolk. He was the son of Edward B. Lindsay and Sarah Ware Lindsay, of Williamsburg. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
