She was born on March 20, 1919, to Angelina and Frank Riganto, on 35th Street in Norfolk, Virginia, and was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas Lipoli, her parents and her brothers, Maury Riganto and Gus Riganto, and her sister, Louise Riganto Favalora. She is survived by her two children, Doralece Lipoli Dullaghan and husband, William, and her son, Frank Lipoli, and three grandchildren, Michael Dullaghan and spouse, Lisa, Matthew Dullaghan and spouse, Ann and Derek Lipoli; great-grandchildren, Caroline Dullaghan, Catherine Dullaghan, Carter Dullaghan, Camryn Dullaghan, Jessie Lin, Lucas Dullaghan and Nick Lipoli. She also is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She graduated in the Maury High School Class of 1938 and was an active member of their 50th anniversary class reunion committee. Catherine had an amazing memory, a strong will and, when she was younger, loved playing jokes on family and friends. Her longevity was a testament to her strong will and feisty spirit. Family was everything to her and she was devoted to her family and friends. She loved to sing and was a member of the Beach Tones singing group in Virginia Beach. Her uncle, Freddy Chinchello, and her husband, Tommy, were the proprietors of Freddy's Drive Inn, a favorite Italian restaurant in Norfolk, where they defined hospitality and she was often a hostess. She and husband Tommy were members of Padul 69 International Order of the Alhambra for more than 50 years and Tommy was the Grand Commander from 1969-1970. She was an active participant in their annual Follies and loved to sing and entertain in the performances and supported their annual contributions to raise funds for developmentally disabled children. Additionally, she was a founding member of the Little Creek Women's Club and supported their philanthropic work. She was also a member of Roma Lodge 254, Order of the Sons of Italy in America as well as St. Pius X Catholic Church. The family would like to thank her caregivers Debbie Morris, Betty Woodhouse, Chelsea Lattimore, Danielle Gardner, Carolyn Lowery, Monica Moxam and Sandy Driscoll and the staff of Visiting Angels and also the rehab staff at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Catherine Lipoli to St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, VA 23502. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 3 from 2-4 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue Norfolk, Virginia 23517. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive in Norfolk, Virginia 23518 at 11 a.m. on December 4 with interment following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
