MARY E. LONG The announcement of the very sudden and untimely death of Mrs. Mary E. Long, at the home of her husband, Mr. James W. Long, No. 305 South Park Avenue, Brambleton, at 12:30 p.m. yesterday, was received with expressions of deep sorrow by her many friends in this city, who knew her only to love. The cause of her demise was a stroke of apoplexy. The deceased was to all appearances in good health on retiring Friday night, but early yesterday morning complained of feeling unwell and did not leave her room. Between 7 and 8 o'clock a.m. she became alarmingly ill and although everything was done for her by her devoted husband, mother and family physician, she passed away from earth at the hour named. Mrs. Long lived a pure and chaste life, was rather retiring and exceedingly modest in manners, but of a cheerful and happy frame of mind. She blended in her life a constellation of amiable virtues and gentleness of spirit which are always the elements of a true and strong Christian character. She was the daughter of Mrs. Hannah A. and the late George S. Egerton, and a sister of Mr. O.J. Egerton, Mrs. T.J. Anderson and Mrs. John B. Maher. She is survived by six children, four daughters and two sons. The sorely bereaved family have the tenderest sympathies of the community in their deep affliction. The deceased was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, from which her funeral will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. ************************************************************************** LONG - Suddenly at the residence, No. 305 South Park avenue, Saturday, October 14, 1899, at 12:30 o’clock p.m., Mrs. MARY E.
