Norfolk Landmark September 27, 1898

Mrs. Elizabeth Forsythe Long, formerly Mrs. Forsythe, who has been janitress of 
the Fire Department ever since its organization in 1870, died of dropsy at 5 
o'clock Sunday morning. Mrs. Long lived with her son-in-law, Mr. R.A. Foster, at 
Cumberland and Wolf Streets, and will be buried at 10 o'clock this morning from 
the Cumberland Street M.E. Church. The members of the Fire Department will show 
their respect by sending a floral token.

LONG - At the residence of her son-in-law, Robert A. Foster, No. 52 Cumberland 
Street, Sunday, September 25th, 1898, at 5 o'clock a.m., ELIZABETH FORSYTHE 
LONG.
The funeral will take place from Cumberland Street M.E. Church TUESDAY MORNING 
at 10 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend.

The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Forsythe Long, who died at the residence of her 
son-in-law, Mr. Robert A. Foster, No. 52 Cumberland Street, Sunday afternoon, 
took place from Cumberland Street M.E. Church yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. 
The services were conducted by Rev. J.E. Crider. The interment was in Elmwood 
Cemetery. The following were the pallbearers: W..R. Wallace, E.G. Rogers, D.C. 
Bell, W.T. Pulley, J.H Kegebein, M.R. Archibald and William Heatherton.
