Long died at St. Vincent’s hospital at 7:15 o’clock last night. He was 59 years old. The body was removed last night to the family residence, 515 Fenchurch street. Mr. Long was born in county Limerick, Ireland. He came to the United States thirty-eight years ago and for a time was engaged in business in Baltimore. He came to Norfolk twenty-six years ago and had been connected with the firm of J. and E. Mahoney eighteen years. Mr. Long was a member of the Emerald Beneficial Association and of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is survived by his wife and one son, James G. Long; one brother, James W. Long, former postmaster at Norfolk, and two nephews, Maurice Long, leader of the Straightouts in Norfolk county, and Maurice Long of the Norfolk fire department. The funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery.
