(Mom Pearl) Long Norfolk - Mrs. Pearl B. Long of 3015 Grandy Ave., owner of Long’s Market, 1214 Ballentine Blvd, died Monday in a hospital. A native of Fairfield, NC, she was the widow of William Long Sr. She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church and a 39-year member of its Missionary Society. She was past president of the Floral Club and chairman of the Georgia Smith Circle. She was a charter member of the ISS Brambleton Neighborhood Club, and Metropolitan Club, treasurer of Queen Street Baptist Church Senior Citizens, and Bowling Park and Senior Citizens Group. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Loriner Johnson and Mrs. Eula Collins of Norfolk; two sons, William Long Jr. of New York and Clarence Long of Norfolk; a stepson, Eugene Wilson of Norfolk; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Sunday, July 3 in Queen Street Baptist Church by Dr. J. Jasper Freeman. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Community Funeral Home in charge.
