Virginian-Pilot, Wednesday, July 3, 1901

The first death of this summer due to prostration from head transpired yesterday. 
The unfortunate victim was W. Edward Lovitt, colored. He died at R.J. Malbourne's 
stable, on Charlotte street, about 9 o'clock a.m. His remains were buried in 
Calvary cemetery yesterday afternoon.
