Lovitt and a native of Princess Anne County, died Thursday, September 1, in a hospital. A World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, he was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility, where he had worked for 32 years. He was a deacon and in the Sunday School Union of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was also a member of Washington Masonic Lodge 139, Alpha & Omega 9, and Arabian Temple 12. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mabel S. Smith; three daughters, Miss Karen L. Lovitt and Miss Kim N. Lovitt,both of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. Wanda L. Ruffin of Whiteplain; and three grandchildren. A funeral was held Sunday, September 4, in Morning Star Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles H. Williams. Burial with military honors was in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home had charge.
