The Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 8, 1936
	
Mrs. Hannah Martha Smith Lowell, aged 71, widow of Frederic Dentzel Lowell, 
and daughter of the late Loring Cephas Smith and Mrs. Alice Smith, a native 
and lifelong resident of Norfolk, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at 
the residence, 816 Stockley Gardens. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. 
Madge Lowell Hamilton, Mrs. Claud P. Brownley, Jr., and Mrs. Walter F. Guy; 
two sons, Frederick Dentzel Lowell, Jr., and John B. Lowell, and eight 
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow at noon, with the Rev. 
George P. Gunn, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, of which Mrs. 
Lowell was a member, and the Rev. E.P. Miner, rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal 
Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
