Lowery, aged 8 years and 4 months. Funeral from residence of his parents, No. 88 Wood Street, THIS (Friday) AFTERNOON, at 5 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. ************************************************************** Harry Lowery's Body Recovered The body of Harry Lowery, the 8-year-old son of Mr. Thomas Lowery, whose sad death from drowning in the canal running from Mahone's Lake to the river was mentioned in yesterday's Virginian, was recovered yesterday morning by one of the force of dredgers who had been employed by the youth's parents to search for it. When recovered the body was near Anderson's mill, which is situated at almost the mouth of the canal and it was at once taken to the residence of the lad's sorrowing parents without the formality of holding an inquest. His funeral will take place from the residence of his parents, No. 88 Wood Street, this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Norfolk Virginian Friday June 14, 1889 **************************************************************** The funeral of Harry, the 8-year-old son of Mr. Thomas Lowery, whose death from drowning, while swimming in the old canal Wednesday afternoon, has been before announced in the columns of The Virginian, took place from the residence of his parents, No. 88 Wood Street, yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock and was attended by a large throng. Rev. W.S. Lacy, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, conducted the funeral services after which the remains were carried to the hearse by six companions of the deceased and conveyed to Elmwood Cemetery, where the interment took place. The floral offerings were magnificent and in many beautiful designs.
