According to Deputy Fire Chief Robert Ripley, the burned infant and three other Lowry children were playing in a center room of the upstairs of the two-story dwelling. They apparently were playing with matches, the chief said, and ignited a gallon can half-filled with gasoline. The gas fed flames spread rapidly throughout the center room, front room and hallway. The oldest child, aged three, told the mother about the fire. All except the infant had escaped the burning room by the time the mother arrived on the second floor. By that time flames blocked her entrance into the room. Entering the room, firemen found the baby dead on the floor near a window. The blaze was quickly extinguished, after causing only moderate damage to the house. Additional Comments: Mt.
