He was born April 9, 1945, in Accra, Ghana, to the parents of Adjoa Nutsugah and Komi Sodjati. Codjoe graduated from Pope John Secondary School in Accra, Ghana. He studied at the University of Cape Coast, University of Ghana, obtaining a degree in economics with a minor in French. He later became a United States citizen in 1980 and began driving tractor trailers for JB Hunt Trucking Company. It was there that he gained an interest in Real Estate. He started selling properties for Century 21 Real Estate in the late 80s before establishing his own name as a realtor and stockbroker. He eventually started his own company titled Wilson and Lucas Real Estate. During this time, he met the love of his life Lillie Hamlin. The two dated for years before welcoming a daughter (Bridgette). They later settled down and were married on April 19, 1999. He later became a dedicated employee of Suffolk Public Schools and loved his co-workers and students. In addition, Codjoe had many hobbies and accomplishments. He loved airplanes so much that he successfully completed training that gave him the skills to fly private aircraft. He enjoyed reading books, listening to classical music, traveling, watching CNN, and playing with electronic devices. He was a huge fan of futbol and tennis and would often watch matches with his daughter. Serena Williams was his favorite tennis player. Also, family was important to Codjoe. He would enjoy playing with all three of his granddaughters. He loved his St. Mary's Catholic Family. Codjoe would attend mass every Sunday with his wife until his health started to decline. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories a loving wife (Lillie), his only daughter (Bridgette), a son, one step-son (Dialo), three beautiful granddaughters (Amiya, Akira, and Khazana), one brother (Kofi Koudama), two brothers-in-law (William Hamlin, Edward Everette), two sisters-in-law (Carolyn Everette & Celeste Hamlin), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
