He was born to the late Silvestre Repiso Lunasin and Monica Agahan Lunasin on October 8, 1938, in Panamitan, Kawit, Cavite, Philippines and was the second eldest of nine children. He was predeceased by his brother, Lidio Lunasin, and his daughter, Michelle Lunasin. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1961 and proudly retired in 1988 at the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer after more than 27 years of dedicated and honorable service. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Myrna Lunasin; his sons, Nestor Lunasin, Jr. and Michael Lunasin (and his wife Elann); his granddaughter, Mikaella Lunasin; his grandsons, Maeson Lunasin and Elijah Lunasin; his brothers, Ricardo Lunasin (and wife Doris), Rodolfo Lunasin (and wife Virginia), Onisimo Lunasin (and wife Dolly), Daniel Lunasin (and wife Connie), Verisimo Lunasin (and wife Josie); and his sisters, Digna Lunasin and Virginia Graves (and husband Steven). He also has numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and other extended family members who live throughout the United States and in the Philippines. Nestor will always be remembered as a devoted family man and friend who was hard-working, kind, caring, and generous. In addition to spending time with his family, he loved to go fishing and crabbing at the beach and also gardening. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA on Wednesday, August 25 and Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be said on both days. A wake prayer service will also be held on Thursday following the Holy Rosary. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 7800 Halprin Drive in Norfolk, VA followed by interment at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery located at 3000 Church Street in Norfolk, VA.
