Norfolk Landmark December 20, 1898

LYONS - At the residence, Riverfront, Berkley, Va., Miss WILLIE F. LYONS, 
daughter of William H. and the late Sophia Lyons, aged 30 years and 4 months.
The funeral will take place at Berkley Avenue Baptist Church THIS (Tuesday) 
AFTERNOON at 2:30 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to 
attend.

Death has again entered in our midst and stricken down Miss Willie Lyons, 
daughter of our townsman, Mr. William H. Lyons. Her brief illness from pneumonia 
and summons to another sphere has fallen upon this community as thunder from a 
cloudless sky, and as we look upon her  devoted father, now upon the down grade 
of life, we painfully realize that his sweet solace in sickness and in health, 
in whom his love and affection centered today, abides with her sainted mother in 
realms of heavenly bliss. The untimely death of this Christian young lady is but 
another admonition "that in the midst of life we are in death." With that 
father, whose heart's riven and who feels that the sunlight of his life is 
obscured forever; to that disconsolate sister and grief stricken brother, the 
sympathy of this community abides.

The many friends in Portsmouth of Miss Willie, daughter of Mr. William H. Lyons, 
of Berkley, will be deeply grieved to learn of her death, which occurred at the 
family home Sunday morning.
