Funeral services for John W. Macklin, who died Jan. 14, at the residence of Mr. 
and Mrs. W. H. Cousins, the latter his granddaughter, were conducted from the 
Jerusalem Baptist Church, in which he was the oldest member, Sunday, Jan. 18 at 
1:30 p.m. Rev. A. Hobbs, pastor officiating. A large congregation assembled to 
pay it’s last respects to the deceased.

Mr. Macklin was ninety-two years old, and was a veteran of the Civil War. 
Surviving him are two daughters, ten grandchildren, and two great great 
grandchildren. The following deacons of Jerusalem Baptist Church served as 
pallbearers, Benjamin Northington, James Barnett, Sandy Walker, John Moore, 
Stacey Roberts, and William Haines. His remains were interred in Calvary 
Cemetery.
