DONALD FERNANDEZ - At a local hospital, Thursday, December 25th, 1941, at 3:22 o'clock a.m., CAPT. DONALD FERNANDEZ, husband of Mrs. Katherine Mildred MacLean, and son of the late Archibald and Mrs. Delia Fernandez MacLean, in the 62nd year of his age. Services at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, No. 1501 Colonial avenue, SUNDAY AFTERNOON at 2 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. ************************************************************** MacLEAN RITES WELL ATTENDED Funeral Services Conducted for Police Captain; Many Tributes Funeral services for Capt. Donald Fernandez MacLean, long a prominent figure in the Norfolk Police Department, who died Thursday at a local hospital, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments with the Rev. L.C. Mendoza, D.D., pastor of Ohef Sholom Temple and the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, officiating. Persons from many walks of life were in attendance at the services in respect to Capt. MacLean, who was known and liked in the city and throughout the state. There were many floral tributes. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses and fern. During the services two organ solos, "Face to Face" and "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose," were rendered by Mrs. H. Morris Butler. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Delegations from Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks and Charity Lodge No. 10, Knights of Pythias, attended the services in a body and conducted ritual services at the grave. Honorary pallbearers were Col. Charles B. Borland, Chief J.F. Woods, Judge Clyde H. Jacob, Judge R.B. Spindle, Jr., Inspector T.L. Petty, Sergt. E.G. Bell, E.J. Gorman, the Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, the Rev. C. Newman Faulconer, the Rev. W.E. Callender, Sergt. A.S. Floyd, Llewellyn S. Richardson, Bush Creekmore, P.S. Bryant, Henry Seyfert, Bernard J. King, Jesse Latham, Mahone Terrell, Judge James T. Holland, Sol Richter, George Hill, Clarence O. Bell, Sergt. Mason H. Holland, Capt. Hunter Harrison, Arthur Bullman, Barney Piepert, Felix Margotti, James E. Prince, Alton R. Newton, B.W. Elliott, Lee F. Lawler, Dr. Wallace Spigel, T.E. Leesnitzer, Dr. George Schenck, F.D. Messick, R.M. Eastwood, J.A. Curtis, T.J. Hanlon, Joseph Caprio, Wiley W. Wood, Ernest Leesnitzer, Ned Chincello, Harry V. Hill and Robert A. Dougherty.
