NORFOLK - Mrs. Elizabeth Madden, 72, widow of John J. Madden and daughter of 
Joseph and Mrs. Elizabeth Battersby Brooks, a native of New York City and a 
resident of Norfolk for many years, died Monday at 1:30 a.m. in her home, 8500 
Andrea Drive.
Surviving are two sons, Frank J. Madden of Upper Darby, Pa., and Thomas Madden 
of Floral Park, L.I.; two daughters. Mrs. Catherine Bigley of Jackson Heights, 
L.I., N.Y., and Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; a sister, 
Mrs. Margaret Mathews of Long Island; and a brother, Frank Brooks of Astoria,
The Rosary will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30. A 
funeral service will be held in St. Pius X Catholic Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
