Death of Mrs. Ellen Madden
The death of this excellent and charitable Christian lady took place yesterday at 
her residence on Chapel street at 12 o’clock, after a prolonged and painful 
illness. Her taking away was not unexpected, yet her loss will be deeply regretted 
by a large circle of friends. Her funeral will take place tomorrow (Friday) 
morning at 10 o’clock, from St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Madden, during life, was ever 
the dispenser of assistance to the poor and afflicted and, in a gentle, sweet way, 
the distressed always found in her a friend and consoler. Peace to her ashes.
