Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, September 16, 1997 
Vernetta Adlee Madison of the 900 block of Merrimac Ave. died Sept. 13, 1997, in
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was a native of McKinney, Va. Retired as a social worker for the City of
Norfolk, she was a supervisor for the Division of Social Services. She was a
50-year member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk and received her
bachelor of science degree from N.C. Central and a masters degree from Atlanta
University.

Survivors include her father, Chalahiene Jed; four nieces, Sylvia Madison of
Norfolk, Sandra Madison of Reston, Va., Anne Alston of Herndon, Va., Mary
Merritt of Herndon; 13 great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great-nieces and
nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Second Calvary Baptist Church
by the Rev. Dr. Geoffery Guns. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The
remains will be ready for viewing at 4 p.m. today. The remains will be taken to
the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family will assemble at 2919 E. Virginia
Beach Blvd. at noon for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge.
