Mr. Magee was a native of Ireland, but has resided in this city for the past twenty years, and during that time won the confidence and respect of the entire community by his honesty and the uprightness of his dealings. His close attention to business enabled him to acquire a competence, but for some years past he was compelled to retire from active pursuits in consequence of a severe malady. In his death our city loses one of her most useful citizens. ************************************************************************* At his residence, Mariner Street, at 10 minutes past 7 o'clock Saturday evening, February 21st, MICHAEL MAGEE, a native of County Louth, Ireland, in the 50th year of his age. His funeral will take place from St. Mary's Church, TOMORROW (Monday) at 10 o'clock His friends and those of the family are respectfully requested to attend without further notice. Norfolk Virginian February 22, 1874 **************************************************************************** Funeral of Mr. Magee – The funeral services of this estimable gentleman took place yesterday morning from the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and were attended by a very large number of the relatives, friends and acquaintances of the deceased. The funeral sermon was delivered by the Rev. Father M. O’Keefe, after which the remains were taken to the cemetery on the prolongation of Church street for interment.
