Hall Memorial Convalescent Home, Portsmouth, on March 24, after a long illness. A native of St. John’s Antigua, British West Indies, she was a daughter of Edward and Mrs. Ambrozine Marshall, and the widow of Melvin Major. She was past grand treasurer of the Order of Eastern Star of Virginia, charter member of Margaret Frances Chapter 101 of Order of Eastern Star, member of Courts of Calanthe, honorary member of Elks Lodge, and member of Loyal Twelve Social and Savings Club and the Lindenwood Beautification Club. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Minnetta E. Miller, a grandchild, Phyllis A. Miller; a son-in-law, James A. Miller of Washington, DC; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held March 27, in St. John’s AME Church by the Rev. Albert R. Powell and Rev. H. L. Powell. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
