Norfolk Journal and Guide, Saturday, Sept. 19,1936
Mrs. Hattie Major, 53, of 1711 O’Keefe St., who died at her home, September 10
and her funeral was held from Queen Street Baptist Church, of which she was a
member, with the Rev. P. P. Eaton officiating, on Sunday.  She was a native of
Dinwiddie County.  She had lived here for 25 years.  She is survived by her
husband, Melvin Major.  She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge.  She was
buried in Calvary Cemetery.
