James V. Maloney, 78, died Sept. 25, 2001, in a local hospital.

Born in Delcambre, La., he retired as superintendent of the U.S. Post Office, 
Ocean View Station. Mr. Maloney was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; 
actively involved in Scouting; Little League coach and manager; and a wedding 
photographer.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rose Mary Maloney; a daughter, Kathleen 
Maloney George and her husband, Bob, and their children, Matt, Katie and Mike; 
three sons, Tim Maloney and his wife, Mary, and their children, Connor, Luke and 
Patrick of Richmond, Steve Maloney and his wife, Joyce, and their children, Ben 
and Megan of Chicago, Bernard Maloney and his wife, Laura, of Las Altos, Calif.; a 
daughter-in-law, Anne Maloney and her children, Chris, Colleen and Kate; and a 
brother, Martin Maloney of Norfolk. He was predeceased by a son, Patrick Maloney.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Catholic 
Church by Father Wayne Ball. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family 
will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial 
donations may be made to the American Leukemia Society. Hollomon-Brown Funeral 
Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
