A funeral service was held Saturday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. M. R. Boone, former pastor, delivered the message. The Rev. E. Ray Cox, pastor, sang a solo. The Rev. H. L. Benjamin read the scripture. Mrs Maggie Holland, church clerk, read messages and the obituary. Deacon George Haynes made remarks. Mrs. Manning was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Grant and the widow of George Manning. She was a member of the Sunday School, usher board and missionary circle. She was a member of the Royal Degree, Chamber No. 8, Camellia Flower Club, Booster’s Charity and Savings Club and the Golden Age Club No. 2 of Atlantic Park, Virginia Beach. Mrs. Manning is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Cooper; five grandchildren, Mrs. Marionette Wiggins, Miss Rose Highter, James Highter and Misses Diane and Phyllis Cooper; two great-grandchildren, one son-in-law, Preston Cooper, all of Virginia Beach; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Boone; and a brother- in-law, James Manning. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk with Harrison’s Funeral Home in charge.
