George W. Mansfield of 111 State street died yesterday morning at 4 o'clock at St. Vincent's Hospital after a brief illness since Sunday evening. He had suffered some time from a pain in his head, which developed into seriousness Sunday afternoon, and he was removed to the hospital and never rallied. He was 48 years old and had been a resident of Berkley ward nearly all his life. He is survived by eight children, his wife having died several years ago. He was master of the tug Parole and was well known as an efficient pilot among the steamboat men of the harbor. He has been employed by Lee Lewis in the tug boat business several months. The remains have been removed to the funeral apartments of J.R. Williams to be prepared for burial and the funeral will be conducted from the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
