Hale, in State street, by shooting a load of No. 2 shot into his left lung just below his heart and died at 11:05 o'clock. Seemingly he had made all preparations for the rash act and had so informed quite a number of his friends of his intention. He told one that he did not care to live any longer than Christmas Day. He recently left the Lawford Hospital, where he suffered with a severe case of typhoid fever, which, from the account of his friends, impaired his mind to a considerable degree. It is supposed that his love affair, together with his physical condition, preyed upon his mind. Before leaving the hospital, while ill, he jumped out of one of the windows and went to the home of his sister, Mrs. Harry Walton, 111 State street. Last evening he made a request of his sister to allow him to stay with a friend last night at the home of Mrs. Hale. Mrs. Hale went to the door of the next door neighbor, and as she opened the door on her return, she being absent about a minute, he had found the shotgun that had been hid in the closet in the room and fired the fatal shot. She saw him fall over on the bed, on the side of which he was sitting when he committed the act. On the note he had written, "I don't expect to be living until morning, I have always been a good boy and treated everybody allright." This was addressed to the woman he loved. He was examined by Health Officer Sleet, who had him sent to the St. Vincent hospital, where he died at 11:05 last night. His sisters, Mrs. Walton and Mrs. B.O. Colonna were grief stricken last night. Mrs. Walton said that while her brother had been acting strangely she did not think he was effected to the extent to committing such a rash act. ************************************************************* MANSFIELD --Suddenly, at St. Vincent's Hospital, on Saturday night, December 26, 1908, at 9 o'clock, SAMUEL C.
