He was superintendent of the Ettinger Anne Rusell Creosoting Company, of Philadelphia. Mr. Mapp was a vestryman and warden of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church until he left the city, and was a veteran of World War I. His late parents were Richard Ames and Mrs. Margaret Anne Talmadge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Alfriend Mapp; two sons, Richard Custis Mapp, Jr., of Hampton, and John Alfriend Mapp, of Norfolk; two daughters, Misses Anne Talmadge and Virginia Blair Mapp, both of Norfolk; one grandson, Stephen Richard Mapp, of Hampton; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Milton Hodgman, of Norfolk; Mrs. David E. Rippetoe, of Dillon, S.C., and Miss Anne Laura Archibald, of Norfolk, and one brother, William Stuart Archibald, of Glenham, N.Y. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for services Tuesday at noon conducted by the Rev. Beverly Tucker White, rector of the church.
