Mr. Mariner was the founder of the race track in Fairmount Park that used to bear his name and that is now known as Norfolk Fair Grounds. He was owner of the Norfolk Cast Stone Block Company. Born in Ireland, Mr. Mariner came to Norfolk 50 years ago at the age of 25. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine Mariner; two daughters, Miss Annie Mariner, of Baltimore and Mrs. John L. Correia, of Norfolk; a son, James F. Mariner and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. ************************************************************************* John Mariner - Funeral services for Mr. Mariner, whose death occurred Wednesday night at 12 o’clock at the residence, 1206 Ashland Circle, Winona, will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
