MARTIN FATALLY STRICKEN BY HEART ATTACK Member Of Widely Known Family, Lawyer And Banker Succumbs At His Home George Gresham Martin, widely known lawyer, banker and member of a prominent Norfolk family, died suddenly at his residence, 1048 Spottswood avenue, yesterday morning at 5:15 o'clock from a heart attack. He was 60 years of age and was the son of the late James Green and Mrs. Bettie Gresham Martin, a native and lifelong resident of this section. He received his primary education in the local schools, graduated at Randolph-Macon College and received his degree in law at the University of Virginia. He was a director and attorney for the Merchants and Planters Bank, Berkley; the Permanent Building and Loan Association and the Chesapeake Building and Loan Association; Past master of Berkley Lodge No. 167, A.F. & A.M. and a member of Ionic Royal Arch Chapter No. 46, A.F. & A.M.; Grice Commandery, Knight Templar and Khedive Temple, Mystic Shrine. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Mrs Lillian Wilson Martin; two sons, George G. Martin, Jr. and Richard W. Martin and one sister, Mrs. Maude Martin Lyons, all of Norfolk and several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Alvah H. Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be conducted at Epworth Methodist Church, of which he was a member, tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ************************************************************ George Gresham Martin - Funeral services for Mr. Martin, who died at his residence, 1048 Spottswood avenue, Sunday morning, will be conducted at Epworth Methodist Church this morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. J.T. Mastin, the Rev. T. McN. Simpson and the Rev. T.A. Smoot will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
