Virginia Beach - Sandra Barber Martin died peacefully at her Virginia Beach 
home on December 12, 2014. Sandy was born in Richmond, Virginia on June 16, 
1940 to Laura Hicks Barber and Harold Noel Barber. She attended Norview High 
School and Old Dominion University. Sandy embodied style, grace, compassion, 
and generosity. She adored cozy, intimate times with family members, 
particularly her grandsons, who were the apple of her eye. Her passion for 
summer meals by the pool made for many special gatherings. She was an avid 
traveler and particularly enjoyed time away to warm weather destinations. 
Sandy's hobbies included gardening, reading historical biographies, and 
providing endless attention to her yellow labs, Britt, Callie, Misty, and 
Ginger. She was also devoted to a tight-knit group of Norview High School 
pals. Sandy is survived by her loyal, loving husband of 35 years, Walter 
Bramblette Martin Jr.; her son, Christopher Wayne Rusbuldt; daughter-in-law, 
Anne Mountcastle Rusbuldt; her two grandsons, Christopher Wayne Rusbuldt, Jr. 
and John Barber Rusbuldt. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Barber 
Vann. Sandy was laid to rest on December 18 at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk 
prior to a private memorial service at Galilee Episcopal Church in Virginia 
Beach. -
