NORFOLK - Charles Monroe Martin of the 2600 block of Middle Ave. went to be with 
his beloved wife, Hattie S. Martin Dec. 13, 2006, at his residence. He was born 
and raised in Suffolk. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and the U.S. Navy 
with a total of 43 years of service. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of 
the Greater Eureka Lodge No. 5 for many years. 

He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Quintin, Othneil, Fencel, Dale and 
Selwyn; a daughter, Belinda; seven grandchildren, Carlos, Joval, Brittney, 
Marcia, Charles, Aaron and Amari; one brother, George E. Martin; one sister, Ann 
Elliot; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2401 
Ludlow St., Norfolk, with the Rev. Raymond R. Barnes presiding. Interment will 
be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will be receiving relatives and friends at 
2605 Middle Ave., Norfolk. The remains are entrusted to Graves Funeral Home, 
Norfolk.
